Top games: Big-school standard-bearer Eden Prairie faces STMA in battle of unbeatens

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.



Other games to keep an eye on

Hutchinson vs. Rocori, 5 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12. After beating No. 6-4A Becker 20-7 last Friday, No. 1-4A Hutchinson (4-1, 2-1) now faces another formidable foe in No. 5-4A Rocori (5-0, 4-0). Junior running back Mitchell Piehl has gained 594 yards and scored six TDs to lead Hutchinson. Rocori senior Tucker Haakonson ranks among the state leaders with 429 receiving yards.

Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity vs. Mayer Lutheran, 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 12. No. 5-1A Mayer Lutheran (5-0, 4-0) held Cleveland to 12 rushing yards in a 43-6 victory last Friday. Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity isn’t ranked but the Bulldogs (5-0, 5-0) are one of just 30 teams statewide with an unbeaten record.
