Breck’s Myles Tang
Defending 1A state tennis champion Myles Tang of Breck moved into position to take his second straight title Friday morning when he defeated Charlie Adams of The Blake School 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals.
Tang had defeated Adams in a tense three-set match on Wednesday that gave Breck a 4-3 semifinal victory over Blake, but it was Adams that drew raves during that match for playing on despite needing medical attention later in the match.
On Friday, Tang said he took advantage of Adams' tendency to stay well behind the baseline by hitting short shots and bringing his opponent to the net.
Tang, a junior who finished second in the state as a ninth-grader, will play Connor Oberle of Holy Family in Saturday's title match. Oberle defeated Logan Engelstad of Thief River Falls 6-2, 6-2 in the other semifinal.
